Mixed Media Monday

This weeks challenge was to create art that represents your country. I decided to go for the red telephone box which has been a familiar site in this country for around 75 years! They used to be everywhere but of course they are not used as much these days since most people have home telephones and mobile phones. A lot of our telephone boxes are being scrapped these days and in fact my brother actually bought one once and had it in his back garden for years. They are part of our heritage really and its kind of sad that they will prob be phased out at some stage. I think they are like our red double decker buses...very representative of the UK.

This is great. The well know phone booth. Fabulous.

Julie, what a neat card. Most of the phone booths around the US are gone. The red ones in the UK were always such a part of the scenery there.

I love the piece. The images certainly evoke England.

Hey Julie,
The red booths remind me of England and there was one here on a corner that I used to use a landmark when explaining how to get to the post office. Last year they painted it green!! not the same feeling at all.

Yeah the old model telephone or the big ones are phased out now. It's great you still treasure it. Thanks for doing the challenge.

I love your interpretation of the theme - and yes - it's sad to see the telephone boxes disappearing. They are going here in Australia as well - all down to mobile phones I guess. Diane

Whatever happened to the red telephone boxes. I have seen them in the UK (years ago) and we also had our version of them in Oz. Sadly no more. I love your phone box collage.
